WIT expanded its reach to include Lebanon
in fall 2007. Lebanon boasts a high standard
of living and development compared
to its neighbors in the region, and Lebanese
women are uniquely poised to increase their
representation in government and business
leadership in a growing economy. Training
courses in computer and software skills and
WIT’s unique Professional Development
component offered Lebanese women a competitive
edge in male-dominated industry
and business sectors.
WIT worked with a diverse range of partner
organizations in Lebanon, supporting and
complementing their women’s empowerment
initiatives. Some partner organizations
work to promote social cohesion and
community development through civic engagement.
Others advocate to improve
women’s legal and social status, while still
others support educational and spiritual development
for both sexes, aiming to promote
social justice, human rights, and
equality. |
