Over the past several years Saudi Arabia has undergone
a series of major educational reforms to
modernize the Kingdom’s education system and
increase Saudis’ competitiveness at home and
abroad.
Many of these reforms specifically target women,
aiming to increase their access to greater educational
and economic opportunities. In fact,
women now make up the majority of students at
higher education institutions.
Starting in November 2006, WIT worked through
Effat University, one of the universities at the forefront
of educational reform in Saudi Arabia. WIT
was implemented through Effat’s popular women-only
Extension Program, which offers professional
development courses in response to employment
needs in the local community and
helps women develop life-long learning skills for
professional, social, and personal enrichment.
