General Women’s Union (GWU)
As part of the UAE’s dramatic moves towards enhancing good governance and gender empowerment, the UAE’s main women’s organization, the General Women's Union (GWU) aims to promote gender empowerment and sustainable development efforts in the country.
Part of the GWU’s mission is to implement the National Strategy for the Advancement of Women in the UAE and effectively monitor and follow-up on the commitments made by the UAE Government at the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and other relevant conventions and international agreements.
